Edenton Lions Club
Visually Impaired People (VIP) come from all over to experience fishing. We provide assistance, meals and activities throughout the event held in October.
Each Fall, the Edenton Lions Club offers free vision and hearing screenings through the NC Lions Vision Van. A Brighter Visions fundraising campaign provides the funding for this state of the art van to travel the state and provide free screenings in local communities.
Edenton Lions serve wherever help is needed - Salvation Army bell ringing, road clean-up, Chowan County Regional Fair Tram Service, Toys for Tots, and more.
Each year, Edenton Lions venture into the childcare centers and the elementary school to vision screen children starting at 6 months of age. By partnering with Chowan/Perquimans Smart Start Partnership, parents may contact Sarah Williams at 252-482-3035 to make an individual appointment.
In order to support the visually impaired, financial assistance may be available to pay for eye exams and glasses. Contact via email to start the process. The application is reviewed and voted on by club members.
Camp Dogwood, an inclusive retreat on the shores of Lake Norman, NC, empowers individuals with visual challenges at a state-of-the-art facility designed for accessibility. Every year, the Lions raise funds for this camp by selling raffle tickets.
